Landscape Painting

Friday was our second day of art at CARAES and though it was a short day, everybody who painted created works I would hang on my walls!

As we are still in the stages of calibrating our art therapy, the first day's lesson was our first usage of tempura paint. Eight participants were instructed on the usage of color to create a sense of depth in an image. "Warm" colors such as red, yellow and orange tend to "pop" from an image while "cool" colors such as green, blue and purple recede into the background. With this in mind, we created landscapes with blue mountains, green fields in the middle and bright reds and oranges up front.

Read more to see the entire set of paintings!

After we completed our paintings, we also did some quick guided sketches. This was good because on Monday, we will do something between art therapy and ergo-therapie - placing art on blank packaging and teaching a handful of basics of good design as well.

Thanks to Claver Haragirimana, Vicente, Sonia Uwimbabazi from Kaami Arts in Kigali and Beth Gatonye (visit Spa Premier at Lemigo Hotel and Elith Day Spa at Highlands Suites Nyarutarama). Thank you for your help and support!

  1. Something really good, its an incredible work you are doing out there. My suggestion is, frame some of the paintings and hang them on your office walls. Sometime, you can even make an exposition. As an accountant, I think Opromamer can learn making something to sustain its existence. It can't be much but knowing who did the painting , it can very interesting. Even me, I can buy one
