Setting Up Sessions

Today was a good day for Soul Therapy art! I met with Jean Pierre Ndagijimana here in Kigali, Rwanda. Jean Pierre runs a new and successful organization called Talk Recovery Training and you can see more about it at www.talkrecoverytraining.com.

Jean Pierre and I discussed what is needed to set up and run art therapy sessions at Careas, the neuro-psychological hospital in Ndera, Rwanda. Jean Pierre has an amazing record providing art, music and talk therapy to teenagers who need to recover from remarkable setbacks. Drawing from his experiences, he quickly provided me with a great framework for running these art therapy sessions and we shared excitement for how it can grow to become an expected part of mental healthcare in Rwanda.

I hope to get started presenting art sessions soon! More about the planned sessions in upcoming posts.

Art To Open Up

Soul Therapy is a blog about "art therapy" which is art and guidance that is designed to give people a way to express themselves. Soul Therapy is also going to be premiering in Rwanda, a country that is adopting and implementing mental healthcare standards.

In the short term, 4 types of art sessions will be run with different groups of people at Careas, Rwanda's central neuropsychological hospital. New expressions for art will be discovered! We hope to see art therapy grow and create a bright future for those who are searching for new ways to show the creative worlds within.
